3.5 easy run

I ran tonight in 86 degree weather, but it was partly cloudy so it wasn't actually that bad.  I was really worried about my left calf, so I decided I would go slow and just take it easy.  I even downloaded slow songs to my ipod because I thought it might help me ease the pace and be more relaxed on the run.  My calf never cramped, but it hurt pretty much the whole time.  The first mile or so it was like both my calves were rocks -- which I have experienced many times when running at the lake.  I stretched a lot before hand, but that did not help at all. In fact, I am starting to think the stretching is what makes my calves hurt when I run.  Anyways, the right side eased up, as has been the case in the past, but my left calf kept hurting.  I have really increased my fluids in the last 48 hours, and I drank a big gatorade before and after the run.  I am trying to do better with my hydration.  My calf hurts now.  It's just a dull pain with every step I take.  Do you think I should do any more running before Saturday Chip?  My plan was an easy 2 tomorrow night, but I didn't know if I should just stay off it or what.

My splits were 9:47, 9:58, 10:17, 4:33 (not sure if these splits are correct or not because they don't really seem right) -- total time was 35:05.

The pain is probably just residual soreness. Are you icing it and taking ibuprofen? Does it loosen up at all while you run?

You can take tomorrow off if you wish, it won't be a big deal.

Run as early in the morning as you can on Friday to maximize your recovery time before the race.

I took some ibuprofen tonight. I haven't tried icing it, but I will tomorrow. I wasn't going to run on Friday. I never run the day before a race. Should I take 2 days off, or just take it easy tomorrow night and do like an easy 2 or something?

Well then you should run like an easy two-three today (Thursday). The earlier you run the more recovery time you'll have before Saturday.
