easy days

Ran 3.25 easy on Sunday (wanted to get a 30 mile week in) and did 4 easy yesterday.  Things are getting hectic with the holiday and Nathan's birthday festivities approaching, but I am hopeful to get a run in tomorrow.

Chilly Run - 10.5 miles

Raj and I got up early and drove over to the constitution trail.  I did not realize it was only 30 degrees outside, and I wore 3/4 length pants and just 2 shirts and an ear band.  Raj had on the jacket mom got him, and long pants.  I thought I would be fine, but it was way too cold to be dressed that lightly.  Nevertheless, we ran 10.5 and ran it quite fast.  My goal was to do 10 minute miles, and I think it was so cold I was quite motivated to meet my goal.  The first 5.5 the wind was at our backs, but it was in our face coming home.  That made the return home all the more difficult.  When we finished, we went for breakfast at Le Peep and I got chocolate chip pancakes.  I am still cold, even after a hot shower.  Thankfully, I have a massage scheduled in 10 minutes!!! :)
Our splits: 9:26, 9:35, 9:47, 9:57, 9:52, 10:00 (wind in face!), 9:52, 9:45, 9:49, 9:47.  Time for 10 miles was 1:37:45.   Time for 10.5 miles was 1:42:44.

I think I am "officially" ready for VEGAS BABY!!!!

2.5 miles easy

Ran 2.5 miles easy to get the lactic acid out of my legs from yesterday. Time was 26:07 (10:28 ppm). Tomorrow is a longer run to see how much stamina I have. Roads here are still snow-covered. Tomorrow the forecast is better.

3.42 miles super easy

Went 3.42 miles in 38:18 (11:12 ppm). Streets were snow-covered and very slippery. Temp was 21 degrees.

4 miles easy

Did 4 miles easy today on the treadmill.  Raj and I are planning on doing a 10 mile run tomorrow morning, then going out for breakfast.  This will be the last long run I do before the race.  I am going to try to up my pace a little, and stick with 10 minute miles, or 10:15.  We'll see if I can do it.  Beautiful day today, nice and sunny.  Hope tomorrow is as well...

Hershey Hills - 7 mile run

I ran 7.25 miles today in 70:18.  It was VERY fast and hard.  It was the hardest I have worked in a long time.  I ran to Hershey, did 5 hills, and ran back.  I did not stop once to catch my breath or for water (like I did all summer).  I ran the whole thing without stopping and I ran it fast.  The weather was perfect (47 degrees and sunny) and I felt great the whole time.  I put some new songs on my ipod, and that gave me a little extra juice.

The Vegas countdown has begun...17 days to go.

Latest runs

I ran 10 miles Sunday on the treadmill.  I made it through 2 Law & Orders and started a third...Took Monday off.  Today I ran easy 5 in 49:45 on the treadmill at the Marriott in Nashville.  (See dad, you CAN run when you are not at home!)

Raj and I are signing up for the Run from the Angels on Jan. 3rd at Lake Meade in Nevada.  They have a 50 miler, marathon, half marathon, 10K and 5K.  I figure I will see how I feel and how many Christmas cookies I ate at mom and dad's before I determine which distance I will run!  It may only be a 10K for me.  It's the sister race to the "Run with the Devil" race which sports desert temps in the summer of like 100 degrees.  It's supposed to be nice and cool in January.

I need to find a run in February now.  My goal is to do at least one race a month so I don't quit running over the winter.

The Great Purge

Easy 10 tonight in 1:13:57 (7:23 ppm). 36:00 at 5 miles.

I've been waiting for the weather to cool down before I started up again, and since it was snowing today I figured it was the perfect time.

My body has been feeling increasingly toxic lately, and I really needed this run. I needed to purge, and that's one reason why I went 10 miles. I really needed to get the poison out. I feel good now.

The bad thing is I have big blisters on each foot. I think it is from the socks I wore.

weekend running

I ran Friday morning but the tv broke so I only got 2 miles in.  I ended up running 6 miles Friday night, so I did 8 miles total on Friday.

I took Saturday off and just "chilled" at the football game.

Sunday I ran 10 miles.  Did 10 mpm pace.  It was a long time to run on the treadmill, but I did not have my ipod and it was 38 - 40 degrees outside, so I was not motivated to run outside.

I felt good after all my runs.

Wednesday's run

I wasn't able to do hills, but I did an old work out from last year.  I did one mile easy, followed by 1x3 miles at 8:49 pace, with 4 minute rest in between, and 1 mile cool down.  Total time 60 minutes, total distance 5.75, with walking during 4 min breaks.

It was a good workout.  I probably could have done more than 3 miles at that pace, but I was pressed for time.

Treadmill runs

Monday I did 7.5 miles easy on the treadmill - 10 min miles.  Today I only had time for a quick 4, but I did it at 9:22 miles.  I stopped a couple times to get a quick drink.  I was really sweaty, so I think it was a good workout.  Tomorrow I want to do hills.  The race is going to be here before we know it!

Week in Review

Monday I ran down and up a huge hill in Puerto Rico and almost passed out.  I got dizzy and had to sit in the grass.  It was 2.2 miles, and 85 degrees.  It was more like a cliff than a hill.  It was horrible.  It took 25 minutes.  10 mins down and 15 mins up.

Tuesday I ran inside on the treadmill.  It was much nicer.  I ran 5 miles in 47:35.

Wednesday I ran 3 a 5K course on the treadmill in 30 minutes.

Thursday I ran 9 miles outside.  The weather was perfect.  I think it was about 55 degrees or so.  I ran really slow.  I'm not sure why I ran so slow, but I was going for distance, not speed.  I wasn't even tired when I got home.  My body was really sore though.  My knees have been bothering me a lot.  I am physically exhausted from the travel I think.

I'm not sure I'll be able to do much running this weekend.  I'm bringing my stuff though in case I can get on the treadmill.  I'd like to get another few miles in this week.  I figure I have one more long run to do.  I plan to do it next Saturday, Nov. 15th.

One month of training remaining!
