3-mile

Ran the EF 3-mile today. 22:10 was my official time I believe. It was a tough course in a european style race over hay bales and the like. It was fun, but I am out of shape!

Pirate Pay Day

Finished 2nd overall and first in my age group at the Pirates Regatta in Mears, earning a $50 purse. My time was pretty slow, though, at 18:18.5. It was really muggy this morning and I struggled to catch my breath over the last mile. Splits were 5:39, 5:55, and then my last one must have been around 6:15. I really died the last mile. The puke was in my throat. I don't do well in the humidity, and the layoff no doubt hurt me.

Spear-It 5k

My time this year was 18:19 (5:53.7 ppm). I was second overall and 1st in my age group.

My first mile was 5:45, but I missed the 2 and 3 mile markers.

I felt pretty good this morning, especially in the legs. My breathing was a bit heavy. Not much competition this year. The guy in front of me was never really close enough to catch, and there was no one behind me for like a minute.

Weather was nice... 60s and not much wind.

.65 warm up and 1.25 cool down for 5 miles total.

Eureka trail run on Saturday

Eureka Trail Run. Mile warm up, appox. mile cool down. 5 miles total. Not sure on time yet. Race results haven't been posted. I was second in my age group. I think my time was around 19:54. Course was quite slow with several sharp turns and narrow paths. It was horribly humid out. Had a hard time breathing.

Cornhole 10k

update: post title now links to 10k results

I had a good race today at the Cornhole 10k. Time was 37:26.2 (6:01.5 ppm). Splits were 6:05, 12:13 (6:08), 18:26 (6:13), 24:25 (5:59), 30:23 (5:58), 36:13 (5:50). Last mile may have been a bit faster, don't really remember. I think these are pretty close.

1st overall! Felt good. Drizzly and cool, so good conditions. I think that helped a lot. I felt pretty good today.

I won by about 26 seconds. There was a guy right on me through 3 miles, I could hear his footsteps, but then I picked up the pace.

My second 5k was in about 18:25, which is faster than what I ran the Asparagus Run, just six seconds slower than the baby food race and only 17 seconds slower than the pirates regatta.

Pirates Regatta 5k

Pirates Regatta 5k in Hart. 18:08.2. Sixth overall, first in age group (out of one). Splits: 5:30, 11:42 (6:12), 17:35 (5:53). Pleased with finish but should have been stronger second mile. Legs didn't feel very fresh today. 70 degrees and 90 percent humidity at race time. I need one of those 50 degree dry mornings to get me out of this funk. 1 mile warmup plus strides, one mile cool down. 5.25 miles total.

baby food race

Finished 2nd in my age group and 10th overall in 18:19.3 (5:55 ppm). Was a warm and muggy day and that I'm sure had an effect on me in the later miles. First mile was 5:29, two mile split was 11:34, there was no three mile marker. I didn't really have a lot of energy today. drove from kalamazoo to bloomington and back to silver lake in one day yesterday. I just haven't really broken out into a good rhythm all summer. 1 mile warm up plus strides and one mile cool down. 5.25 total miles for the day.

Spear-It 5k

Ran 18:36, which was exactly my goal. Splits were 5:45, 6:07, 6:08. Faced a fairly strong head wind over the last half of course. 5th overall, 1st in age group. Not bad for only about 10 hours of sleep last two nights combined. Probably could have pushed harder over last mile. New racing flats are awesome. About a .8 warmup, 3.9 miles total.

Weekly total (Sunday through Saturday): 23.9
Summer total (since June 1st): 42.4

Did not run on Sunday (today). Calves are sore.
